Marketing BS 101
August 15, 2008 by Jonathan Davis
What we dislike the most about the replica watch industry as a whole is the blatant use of marketing buzzwords and flat out lies that are so commonplace. In this blog, we’ll point out a couple of the terms we hear the most and exactly why we find them so annoying and offensive.
First of all, the biggest offender is the term “Swiss made replica watch”. There are no mass-produced replica watches being made anywhere in Switzerland. As we’ve pointed out before in previous blogs, all replica watches are made in China and are one of three grades; street-level, Japanese grade, and Swiss grade. Why are they called Japanese and Swiss grade? Because it’s not as attractive to say they’re from China. People have a mistrust of cheap Chinese knockoffs, not to mention the toy and dog food scares recently. Doesn’t it sound better to say these watches were made in Japan and Switzerland? Of course, but it’s not true.
Another term that we hate to hear is about how many jewels are in that website’s movement. First of all, we very much doubt that the majority of these websits have seen or even touched a replica watch. Most of them set up connections with suppliers in China who mail out the watches personally, never actually going through the store that you purchase from. The most outrageous, and even comical, example of this is from GlobalReplica. Not content with simply claiming that their watches come with 27 and 31 jewel “Italian movements”, they’ve even gone so far as to create a fake website that they claim is their supplier! If you go to Vespamovement.com, you’ll see that they’ve created a fake branch of the famous Vespa scooter company that supposedly supplies exclusively to GlobalReplica. Do they really expect people to believe that a respected and world-renowned company like Vespa also supplies watch movements for replica watch companies and publicly brags about it? Do you think Mercedes or BMW would do the same? We probably shouldn’t be surprised; GlobalReplica.com has some of the wackiest claims and over-the-top marketing BS that you’ll find anywhere on the Internet.
Believe it or not, the stores that engage in this Marketing BS are also the stores that turn out to be the biggest scams (as evidenced by our Store Reviews). We feel that a store should be honest with its customers, whether it’s selling computers or replica watches.
We’ll be back soon with “Marketing BS 201″. If you’d like to fill us in on any of the terms that you hate to hear, let us know by Contacting Us or leaving a comment below.

i guess i just hate all of the over-the-top claims about them being identical to the original… replica watches are good, but not that good. all replicas can be told apart by an authorized dealer
i can’t stand almost everything replica watch stores are about.. profit over everything else. I jus want a site that delivers the product at a fair price and doesn’t jerk me around
